Diagnostic, treatment and interdisciplinary cooperation

Neuroradiology is a subspecialty of radiology and deals specifically with diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the nervous system.
In collaboration with the Department of Radiology, the Institute of Neuroradiology is equipped with all currently available modern scanners for neuro-imaging, that is CT, MRI, MRI-PET and DSA, allowing precise diagnosis of anatomic and pathologic structures as well as cerebral or spinal functions such as blood flow, metabolic processes, movement of the cerebrospinal fluid, and even the structure of the fiber webs in the brain and spinal cord.

Besides the pure diagnostic neuroradiology, the Charité – Universitätsmedizin also offers innovative, image-guided treatments.

Treatments of various pathologic conditions are discussed in routine conferences in close collaboration with the Departments of neurology, neurosurgery and pediatrics.

The Institute for Neuroradiology offers a round-the-clock on-call service for neurologic emergencies for diagnosis and treatment of urgent conditions (e.g. stroke).
